Ingredients
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Zest and juice of 1 lime
- Wooden or metal skewers
Instructions
- Prepare the Shrimp: If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 30 minutes to prevent burning during grilling. Pat dry the shrimp with paper towels.
- Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, mix together olive oil, honey, minced garlic, paprika, cumin, dried oregano, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper, and the zest and juice of one lime. This will be your marinade.
- Marinate the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the marinade, making sure each shrimp is well coated. Allow the shrimp to marinate for at least 15-30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Skewer the Shrimp: Thread the marinated shrimp onto the skewers, making sure to pierce both the tail and head ends, keeping them secure.
- Grill the Shrimp: Place the shrimp skewers on the preheated grill. Grill for about 2-3 minutes per side or until the shrimp are opaque and cooked through. Be cautious not to overcook, as shrimp cook quickly.
- Serve: Once the shrimp are grilled to perfection, remove them from the skewers and transfer to a serving plate. Garnish with additional lemon wedges and fresh herbs if desired.
