Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Zest and juice of 1 lime
  • Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 30 minutes to prevent burning during grilling. Pat dry the shrimp with paper towels.
  2. Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, mix together olive oil, honey, minced garlic, paprika, cumin, dried oregano, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper, and the zest and juice of one lime. This will be your marinade.
  3. Marinate the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the marinade, making sure each shrimp is well coated. Allow the shrimp to marinate for at least 15-30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  4. Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  5. Skewer the Shrimp: Thread the marinated shrimp onto the skewers, making sure to pierce both the tail and head ends, keeping them secure.
  6. Grill the Shrimp: Place the shrimp skewers on the preheated grill. Grill for about 2-3 minutes per side or until the shrimp are opaque and cooked through. Be cautious not to overcook, as shrimp cook quickly.
  7. Serve: Once the shrimp are grilled to perfection, remove them from the skewers and transfer to a serving plate. Garnish with additional lemon wedges and fresh herbs if desired.

Enjoy your delicious Honey Grilled Shrimp Skewers! These make a fantastic appetizer or main course.
